A while back I quietly switched off the Bluetooth side of the Mule and Miner, the part that talks to your Wellue O2 ring. It was a great feature and people liked it, but back then it caused all sorts of malfunctions and collisions with the CPAP data extraction. Getting your nightly CPAP sync boringly reliable had to come first, so I pulled the ring until I could make both run at once without stepping on each other.

That's the past now.

It's back, and this time it stays up

The O2 ring is back on as of the 4.1.1 firmware, and it holds. The crash that made me pull it in the first place (bringing Bluetooth up while an SD card transfer was mid-flight) is fixed, so the ring and the CPAP stop stepping on each other. Both radios can be busy at once without the miner falling over.

How to turn it on

Two quick steps.

1. Get on the 4.1.1 firmware. If your bridge is already on 4.1.1 or newer, you're set. If it's older, update it from your profile on cpapdash.com under the Devices tab, or open a ticket at cpapdash.com/support and we'll push it for you. Five minute thing.

2. Switch the ring on in your settings. In Settings, pick your bridge and turn on the Wellue O2 ring. No codes to enter, the bridge finds and pairs your ring on its own. Save it, and CpapDash tells your bridge to start pulling the ring on its next check-in. That's the whole setup.

One night, one dashboard

If you sleep with a Wellue O2 ring, the Mule and Miner now pull both streams through the whole night: the breathing data off your CPAP and the oxygen and heart rate off the ring, at the same time. In the morning they land together on a single dashboard, lined up on the same timeline.

One night on one dashboard: CPAP flow and events sit next to O2Ring SpO2 and heart rate on the same timeline

That's the part that actually matters. Seeing a desaturation sit right under an apnea, on the same screen, instead of flipping between two apps and eyeballing whether the timestamps line up. When respiratory and oximetry are on top of each other, the correlation just reads itself.

Got a different ring?

Right now this is the Wellue and Viatom ring. If you use a different Bluetooth oximeter and want it supported, write to us at cpapdash.com/support. Tell us what you've got and we'll figure out together what it takes to bring it in.

Update, put the ring on, go to sleep, and read the whole night in one place.
